REVERSE CAMERA FITTING
Installing an aftermarket reverse camera can be done yourself or professionally, with the latter often recommended for ease and to avoid potential damage. Our pricing starts at £280 for professional installation, which usually takes two to three hours.
Here's a breakdown of options and considerations:
DIY Installation:
Pros: Can save money.
Cons: Can be tricky, potentially damaging your car if wires are not routed correctly, and may require some electrical knowledge.
Considerations: You'll need to remove the boot handle or fit the camera underneath your number plate, and feed connecting wires through the vehicle and into the fuse box.
Professional Installation:
Pros: As Experts, We can handle the installation efficiently and ensure proper wiring and connections.
Cons: Costs more than DIY installation.
Camera Types:
Wired: Requires running wires through the car to connect the camera to a screen or head unit.
Wireless: Uses a wireless connection to transmit the image to a screen or head unit.
At Car System Installs, We use wired connections for our Reverse Camera Installations
Installation Process (General):
Camera Mounting: Mount the camera to the vehicle's exterior, typically using OEM look cameras (for example integrated into boot handle) or on the rear bumper or license plate area.
Wiring: Connect the camera to the reverse light wire, which will activate the camera when the vehicle is in reverse.
Screen/Head Unit Connection: Connect the camera's video output to a screen or head unit that can display the image. We connect a laptop to your vehicle to allow the reversing image to be shown on your display. If you already have parking sensors, We will overlay the sensor diagram onto the reverse camera image (Top right of screen)
Testing: Ensure the camera and screen/head unit are working correctly.
